So on pocket edition y'all can have skins by 128 pixels by 128 pixels. Why non in Java? Delight it would allow the community to become so artistic with skins and information technology's just a suggestion from a skin creator who is using apps allowing those pixels but doesn't utilise pocket edition. If it'due south a tedious thing to do I understand only I would love to see this in Java

That would ruin the simplicity of pixel art.

I concur. The current avatar resolution is only too cramped. This would atomic number 82 to some epic detailed skins.
Yet, I too agree with this. And so I propose that it would be 64x64.
Either way, I actually like this thought.

64x64 is the electric current skin resolution, so y'all are really proverb that the current system should be kept; 128x128 would merely double the resolution in each dimension (so the caput would be 16x16 instead of 8x8 - this means that current skins effectively have half the resolution of blocks and items, although entities are not direct comparable since they vary in size):

As I recall, another "nope-nope-nope" in the attitude of the Devs is "genitalia art" in skins. Yeah, you tin can still do it, merely with the current resolution it is by default "pixelated out." For every doubling of the resolution, you quadruple the odds of idiots flaunting the size of their avatar's gonads. And since parents tin't go after some random kid with tan-elephant head undies, Mojang will take to acquit the burden of the parental annoyance.
Given they've already plenty on their plate, Mojang isn't going to practice this.
Now there were mods for "HDR Avatars", only concluding I looked they have been discontinued. https://minelittlepony-mod.com/ As far as I know, the MLP modernistic is even so active and supports "HDR Pony" skins. Merely I don't think information technology probable that any higher resolution histrion skins is going to be a "thing". Anyone offering to support HDR skins is going to exist held liable in a court of constabulary for distributing pornography, and it is unlikely anyone with the *ways* to mod information technology in will exercise so without consulting a lawyer telling them, "Aw hell no!"
So while I like the idea, and I'd really honey to have Whatsoever ameliorate resolution skin for my ferret avatar, it is unfortunate people suck and brand dainty things impossible.

I'd considered just 'liking' the post, but the following two bits deserve a bit more recognition…

Heh... https://www.publicknowledge.org/news-blog/blogs/minecraft-lawsuit-minefield makes for an interesting read from eight years ago. I couldn't notice it on a quick search, simply I recall Mojang getting "stop and desist" from a tabletop game maker because someone published a video and a earth download of some popular table-top game people could play using Minecraft.
There is simply no way Mojang is going anywhere near, "Hey, use Minecraft to porn-ify your avatar with the new higher resolution!" Nope... nope... nope...

Im really dislocated you know, bedrock edition has 128x128 custom skin back up why doesn't java?

Well because bedrock on Xbox/PS4 y'all can't make your own peel or choose a custom skin. On PC y'all can but over again you cannot go over 64x64 pixels because It wasn't canonical by Mojang. That'southward why some of the pare packs are 128x128 considering every skin pack goes through Mojang before, it goes public. When you try to input a custom skin that is 128x128 on Minecraft Windows x Edition it only pulls up this crap message saying it'south non a Minecraft skin.

I'g sorry, simply I am able to input a custom skin of 128x128 on Minecraft W10 Edition.
That bulletin only shows upwards if you try to put one that is higher than 128. (At least for me)
Both the 1 I was putting and the one I'grand using are 128x128.
Now, I retrieve 128 on java wouldn't be an issue, and support it.
As for the problems with nudity and such, perchance mojang should try to detect a system that makes the skins go through an approval to be used or not, it would probably make it a petty bit annoying to wait a few moments for the skin to really be usable, just at the same time it would prepare the other trouble, and I remember that fixing the other outcome is much more important than having skins not existence used instantly.
Maybe some kind of image recognition organization, they put some of those not wanted type of skins in the blacklist and let the organization do its affair. (I don't know the mechanic backside those things, simply I'chiliad sure it's non as unproblematic as I made information technology audio, regardless, it's just a suggestion)

Mojang does *not* have QA staff to watch for bugs. They depend entirely upon the customs. Fifty-fifty so, with bugs reported for months, they nonetheless permit slip through problems that were terrible on the MCJE 1.14 release making it for the most role unplayable.
How does this interpret into Mojang previewing a flood of skins, and what liability would they suffer if a few nudies slip through fifty-fifty for TRYING to check through them all?
EDIT: Oh yeah, that's not a newdie pic, I'm just shirtless wearing tan jeans with a forepart fly. No, seriously!

When I opened this proffer, this was my immediate business organization, although I have to wonder if it'southward really that much of a problem. Consider the fact that in Minecraft, y'all can already build genitalia with blocks and write whatever you want in signs or chat. This specific change would merely make it slightly easier for trolls to become onto a server and "flash" people before a moderator bans them.
The specific articles you posted to bargain with copyright law, which seems to oddly go more than attention because people like to sue. I'm non sure what American or European constabulary says about pornography distribution, just games similar Roblox already allow for this kind of disgusting, albeit hilariously bad kind of pornification. Google will let minors search for explicit images as well without asking for the user's age.
In improver to that, I'thou not really certain doubling the resolution is going to exist that bad. If you wanted to display porn on your body and arms for the world to see, a 128x128 skin would requite you a whopping 32 10 24 space to put it on! At that bespeak, nosotros're withal dealing with pixel art.
There are a few solutions to this problem if you're still concerned. If I had to call back of ane:
- Add a friends system. You can add or remove a friend using commands. The other player must take a friend request earlier both players are made friends.
- The thespian tin decide whether skins are shown for no players, friends or all players.
- The player tin can decide whether /msg works for just command blocks, friends or all players.
- Potentially other friend-based things could be added, such as a gamerule to disallow friendly fire between friends on servers, etc.
In addition to stopping players from showing you nude skins, this system can besides stop strangers from attempting to PM you lot for personal information after they offset meet you. It's non a perfect arrangement obviously, merely it adds a small-scale level of security and it means Mojang doesn't take to screen every peel to make sure they're SFW.

My avatar is a texture from a small block game I made in Python. It's not very adept and it probably won't work if you install it.
I'thou very alone in my Minecraft worlds as I don't have a very practiced net connectedness to run a server. If you're like me, you might be interested in my Posse modernistic suggestion.

It would exist great if I could have my avatar look more like my ferret persona than what is currently available. Minecraft Globe will let for people to build things viewable in public that others tin come across. My business is that we will have "2B2T" in the face of anyone wanting to play Minecraft Globe. Mojang insists it isn't going to be like that. We'll see how Mojang manages *this* trouble and decide if they are competent enough to deal with "Hard disk drive" skins.

I was admittedly hoping for a more in-depth rebuttal/acknowledgment but okay. I think the affair about 2B2T is that it fully acknowledges and advertises that it is an anarchy server and for that reason, people treat it as such. That being said, I do agree that if Mojang can moderate Minecraft Earth, they can moderate Hard disk drive skins.
*looks to my left*
*looks to my right*
I think what would be fifty-fifty cooler than 128x128 skins is the ability to add ears, tails and other appendages to the thespian model

I appreciate the enthusiasm, which I *share* every bit far as concept. Seriously, I take to wear a bit watching Hytale news for salivating all over myself. Role of that is the "Hd" detail and options with characters while still looking "Minecraft-y" pixelated. I'm pretty sure I won't become a "ferret-avatar", but I'1000 pretty sure I'll be more happy with the level of detail I'd get than what I get for the current Java situation. MCBE lets me at least have an Ewok, shorter and fuzzy, but I can't take that for MCJE.
I don't take any problems at all with the want and intent of the 128^2 image compared to 64^ii. It really doesn't seem much more than than 4 times the corporeality of pixels, and it shouldn't be a big deal. But time will tell how Mojang ends upward dealing with Hytale in the nature of avatar customization. Contest forces changes.

In all honesty to the people who say no to 128x128 skins, ANSWER ME THIS if it ruins the simplicity for Minecraft pixels then how come I am able to equip a 128x128 Minecraft skin in bedrock hmm? but in java I can't, wouldn't it ruin the simplicity for bedrock as well? Kind of dumb, also for whoever said stuff about porn-ify (that is immature and gross to even call up of that on this website), also seeing as mods can exist used for this, information technology is dumb how y'all tin very easily accept a higher resolution in boulder but not in java (Retrieve Near IT), and then mind I am not taking either side, simply simply maxim what makes sense and what does non make sense is
Minecraft Boulder Can Have 128X128 Skins (Cheque)
Minecraft Java Edition Can Take 128X128 Skins (Nope)
And then tell me, how does this make any sense where Minecraft is Minecraft just Bedrock No trouble with higher resolution skins but Java No way yet they are both Minecraft (And do non talk about the coding existence different if you was to considering both codes can hands have more pixels than even 512 simply capped at 128(For Bedrock) and 64 (For Java), makes 0 sense to me in all honesty.

I agree with what y'all're saying, all the same having 128x128 back up on Java would allow for and so much more than inventiveness with creating more detailed skins. At the aforementioned time, 64x64 format should stay and non exist completely replaced by 128x128 for those who similar the more than simplistic look. I take been waiting a long time for 128x128 to come out for Coffee, but I don't know when or if that will happen.
